HarðfuskurDay 13, happy 13, will be the last full day on this trip. Tomorrow will just be wake-up-and-shower-and-get-to-the-airport-and-home. Starting slowly today, walking down to Kolaportið to get some harðfiskur for my dad and sister (they, too, love this).

Yesterday night was eventful for all of the town’s football fans, Read more…

Reykjavík, day 12

Weather forecasts from yr.no and veður.is is quite worthless. The rain doesn’t seem to want to come, and the sun shines on. That is, it did this morning, but in the afternoon, we had some light rain. No wind to speak of and pretty mild.

Last night I found this wine bar. Read more…

The cultural Reykjavík

September 3rd, 2009 2 comments

Now, a new blog entry about this tiny city at the northwest of Europe. It seems to me Reykjavík must be the Nordic countries capital of culture. This is of course not official and I guess quite a few people disagrees, but nevertheless my opinion. Read more…

Brunch at BabalúTime flies when having fun. Today’s another day in the life, and I’m still in Reykjavík. As Jón pointed out with a comment on yesterday’s blogpost, there was an unofficial meeting of local amateur photographers from  http://www.ljosmyndakeppni.is/ here at Babalú (broccoli soup today). Reykjavík area, day nine

September 2nd, 2009 5 comments

Woke up and it felt like I’d be sleeping most of the day, but it was only half past nine, so with the right amount of will, I could have even had breakfast for free at the hotel, but I decided against it. I emailed my contact at the travel agency, Þóra Árnadóttir, the other day and pointed her to my writings about the Hótel Björk breakfast, and she asked me if it had gotten any better, so she might have talked to them. Reykjavík area, day eight

September 1st, 2009 1 comment

After a week of walking 1-3 hours every day around with a camera, some extra lenses, a laptop, some power supplies, a book or two and perhaps some more on my back, my backpack feels lighter and walking a couple of hours, carrying it, doesn’t feel too bad. I take that as a good sign 🙂 Having walked around in Reykjavík for a day, I thought perhaps I should look further, so I got on a bus (number 1) to Kópavogur Read more…

Reykjavík, day seven

August 31st, 2009 1 comment

Day seven – almost halfway through. Should have had more time and more money and more everything, but I guess I can’t complain much. Walked into town again I went by Grái kötturinn to see if it was open, and though the door was open, the gate in front of it was not – still closed for maintenance. Read more…

Reykjavík, day five

August 29th, 2009 4 comments

Back in town after waking up rather late. Hildigunnur invited me to her house to dine with her husband, Jón Lárus Stefánsson, so yesterday I went there and was served Tagliatelle Bolognese (the real one from Bologna, not the common restaurant one, she underlined) and wine (starting with very good chianti, ending with a brilliant French one (don’t remember its name).
